Senior NPA prosecutors struck off roll of advocates

Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions, Nomgcobo Jiba, has been struck from the roll of advocates.

She's been removed - along with Lawrence Mrwebi, who is the Head of the NPA's Specialised Commercial Crimes Unit.


Jeremy Muller, Chairperson of the General Council of the Bar, confirmed the decision by the North Gauteng High Court.


Jiba took the decision to prosecute KZN Hawks Head Johan Booysen on racketeering charges relating to the disbanded Cato Manor Serious and Violent Crimes Unit.


But the case was dismissed in 2014 by the Durban High Court - after it found the decision to have been unlawful and irrational.


The charges against Booysen were reinstated by the NPA earlier this year.
