Senior cop a no-show at Scopa's Eskom meeting
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
A senior police official who was meant to testify before Parliament on Wednesday on his meetings with former Eskom CEO Andre De Ruyter, has seemingly gone awol.

Brigadier Jap Burger was expected to appear before the Standing Committee on Public Accounts on Wednesday morning to divulge information believed to have been handed to him by De Rutyer as part of his claims of corruption and sabotage at the power utility.
While other police officials such as the national commissioner are present Brigadier Burger was nowhere to be seen.

Scopa chair Mkhuleko Hlengwa appeared unimpressed.
He said it's disappointing and hard to understand as immediately after getting a call yesterday from the commissioner's office about Brigadier Burger's safety concerns - he gave clear instructions that protection be provided for him.
"They said security must be provided for the brigadier and that he must appear and present his issues to us. I find it strange of they don't know where he is. That is the issue.
"The matter was raised and I responded by saying provide security and that he must appear and present his issue hear. Now when he is now known, I think that is where the problem is."
