#selfie25: KZN artist gets Durbanites interacting
Updated | By Portia Cele
An artist from KZN whose interactive digital art exhibition has received critical acclaim is urging young art lovers to join in the #selfie25 movement.
Created by Simphiwe Xulu, the #Selfie25 exhibition currently on display at the KZNSA Art Gallery features digital prints of 25 young and influential South Africans.
The Eshowe-raised artist says the exhibition offers a different experience to that of physically walking into a gallery.
"The execution and how I wanted to tell the story is what I wanted to be new. The website that we are building will feel like you're walking into an art gallery.
"The experience of seeing the final artwork is going to be digital and can be accesses from anywhere - from your mobile phone or your tablet," he said.
These designs feature game changers such as fashion blogger Lesego “ThickLeeyonce” Legobane, musician Thandiswa Mazwai, and entrepreneur Adewale Adejumo just to name a few.
Guests are to take a selfie with artworks at an art gallery and share the images on social media, using the hashtag #selfie25.
The #selfie25 exhibition runs until October 18 at the KZNSA Art Gallery .
