The Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of South Africa (SEIFSA) says it is ready to return to the negotiating table with the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa).

This after metal workers and engineers began a nationwide strike on Tuesday, demanding an 8% pay hike.
In Durban yesterday, marchers rejected the offer of 4.4% as they made their way to City Hall.
Lucio Trentini, the federation's CEO, says they want to resolve the wage dispute as soon as possible.
"We know that there's going to have to be some comprise on both sides of the table in order to reach an agreement, but the room for comprise on both sides of the table have to be delicately handled and handled in such a manner that we don't do unnecessary damage to an already fragile industry."
