Security officer shot dead in Kenville

A security officer has been gunned down in Kenville, north of Durban.

Paramedics were called out to Kew Road on Thursday.
ALS paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says police officers escorted them to a man who had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Jamieson says the victim, who is believed to be in his 30s, was declared dead at the scene.
"It is alleged that a man, a security officer, was responding to an emergency at a house when he came under fire.”
"SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further."
