Search for missing girl, 7, swept off Cape coast
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
A seven-year-old girl, who was swept by a wave off the beach at Betty's Bay on Friday, Western Cape, is yet to be found.
NSRI says together with police divers and emergency services, an extensive search for the Grade 1 pupil began on Friday after she was pulled into the ocean. Rescue boats were also deployed in the search.
Authorities say she is presumed to have drowned.
Her school, Greenfield Girls’ Primary, issued a message on Facebook, sending words of support to her family.
The Greenfield community mourns the tragic passing of LOUISE FOWLER, a Grade 1 Greenie. Our hearts and prayers go out to Kim, Ryan, Claire and their friends and family. The loss of a child is indescribable. May the loving memories they have of Louise carry them through their grief, and may God bless them and walk alongside them.
Louise was with us for too short a time, but what a sweetheart. Our thoughts are with her teachers and classmates at this difficult time.
May she rest in peace.
Meanwhile, University of Zululand graduate Mbali Gumede, is still missing after leaving for university early last month.
