Search for girl washed away into river continues today
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The search for a 9-year-old Umlazi girl who disappeared in a river not far from her home south of Durban continues this morning.

Yesterday the search for Amahle Mvoyo was temporarily called off due to rough water conditions. Amahle was washed into the river while playing with friends. Metro Police and Durban Police Search and Rescue units spent the whole day scouring the river but without success.
The little girl’s father, Sabelo Dladla, says they are praying for good news.
"Her grandmother told her to stay home and not go anywhere", he said.
"However her grandmother had to rush somewhere and left her behind and this is when she went with friends to take a swim in the river - that is when it all happened", Dladla said.
