Search for teen in Umgeni River enters 6th day

The search for a teenage boy, presumed to have drowned, in the Umgeni River has entered its sixth day.

Luntu Khawula, 13, was with friends and swimming in the Springfield Park area, when he got into difficulty in the water.

Reaction Unit South Africa has been involved in the search for the grade eight pupil.
"A search was conducted and the body of the body was not recovered," says spokesperson Prem Balram.

"The family then requested aerial support and a RUSA helicopter flew out and conducted a low-level search between the Springfield Park area and Blue Lagoon in Durban. The body was not recovered."
