Search continues for child missing after Kennedy Road blaze

The search for a four-year-old child who went
missing during a massive fire at an informal settlement in Durban will
continue on Monday.
Over 500 homes were destroyed after a fire broke out at the Kennedy Road Informal Settlement in Clare Estate on Sunday morning.
So far, one person has been confirmed dead.
Firefighters from the eThekwini fire department managed to put out the blaze.
Division Commander Nqabakazi Nqoro says it took them several hours.
"We had four casualties that were transported by EMRS to King George Hospital and also around about 8pm they recovered one body of a man and we had a four-year-old child that was reported missing."
Meanwhile, the Gift of the Givers was on the ground to help provide relief to the affected residents.

Bilaal Jeewa from the NGO says the team is assessing the needs together with the disaster management and Department of Human Settlement.
"Thereafter we will proceed with interventions."
