Zikalala says construction teams have been hard at work to set up Temporary Residential Units to accommodate those who lost their homes in last month's disaster.

Meanwhile electricity has been restored to a number of areas in Durban's northern, southern, central and western parts.

But eThekwini says technicians are still working on restoring power in Nagina, Umlazi's P and G sections, Shallcross and Nsimbini. The Premier says repairs on the N2 in Umgababa are continuing:

"We can report that the N2 in Umkomaas and Umgababa, Sanral has commenced with the construction of a detour which will be within the N2 space," he said.

"This will allow the flow of traffic from the south to north which have been blocked since the floods. Sanral has estimated the construction of the detour will be complete by Friday."
