Sea Cow Lake warehouse fire extinguished

Firefighters have extinguished a fire that gutted a warehouse in Sea Cow Lake, north of Durban.

Crew members have been battling the blaze from Monday afternoon.
eThekwini Fire’s Regane Gunkel says the double-storey building was being used as a storage facility for the China Mall.

Gunkel says it also served as a business premises for a private security company.
"The building consisted of two floors; the bottom floor was a China mall warehouse in which they housed all their products.
" On the top floor was the Accelerate security company, in which they have done all their training and housed approximately 20 vehicle which were also damaged in the fire."
He says the building is severely damaged.
"The structural integrity of the building has been compromised, has been rendered by fire safety as well building engineers is unsafe to enter."
