Scuba diver dies on South Coast
Updated | By Nushera Soodylal
A scuba diver has died at Umkomaas, on the upper South Coast, after allegedly going into cardiac arrest upon surfacing.
Netcre 911's Shawn Herbst says the man's fellow divers initiated CPR on their boat while they raced back to shore.
"Reports from the scene indicate that an adult male scuba diver went into cardiac arrest shortly after surfacing," he says, "CPR was continued by an advanced life support paramedic. Despite best efforts to save the man's life he was sadly declared deceased on the scene"
Herbst says all necessary authorities were on scene.
Meanwhile, the search for a man - who is presumed to have drowned at the beach yesterday - is still ongoing.
And in a third incident, police have recovered the body of a 24-year-old man who drowned in a farm dam in Glendale, on the North Coast, yesterday.
