The Concerned Zimbabwe Citizens group says they want to draw attention to the national crisis that broke out there earlier this week. Violent protests erupted across the country, following government's decision to raise the price of fuel to the equivalent of around R46 per litre.

Several people have been killed and dozens more hurt as protestors and government security services stood-off against each other. The Internet and social media platforms have also been suspended since then.

The Right-2-Know Campaign's Bongani Xezwi says they will stand in solidarity with the cause.

"We are against what is happening in Zimababwe and it needs to stop", he said.

"The South African government needs to ensure the army there backs off and democracy is allowed to prevail in Zimbabwe. People should also be allowed to communicate so social media communication with the rest of the world should not be cut off", Xezwi said.
