Scorching temperatures in KZN on Thursday

As sweltering temperatures take hold in KwaZulu-Natal, the South African Weather Service says it's going to be extremely hot in the province's eastern parts on Thursday.

Forecaster Ayanda Nsele says parts of KZN are already sizzling. 

"Today over KZN we are expecting clear, fine weather conditions. There are hot to very hot temperatures that may become extremely hot over the eastern parts. 

"We are expecting the temperatures to cool down from the afternoon and we do not have any rain or thunderstorms for today and tomorrow." 

Temperatures are expected to soar to 38 degrees in Durban, Richard's Bay and Margate.

The mercury's set to skyrocket to 42 degrees in Pietermaritzburg and 41 degrees in Ulundi.

Mooi River and Lady Smith a high of 36 degrees, Newcastle 35 degrees and 34 degrees for Kokstad. 

Here's some important advice on how to keep cool, from ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson. 

"Keep large amounts of water and stay hydrated, stay out of the direct sunlight as much as possible, also take care of your furry animals whilst they look after your premises that they also have large amounts of water available as they also can dehydrate rather quickly."
