More pupils from more schools around the country have spoken out and protested about racial discrimination they say is happening in their schools.

This after black learners at Pretoria High School for Girls staged several protests at their school last week - saying the school had refused to engage them on a number of issues, including the school's hair policy and claims of insults hurled at them by teachers.

Here in KZN, the Education Department says it has met with all parties at Queensburgh Girls' High School after black pupils said they too were being discriminated against teachers.

They say they are not allowed to speak their home language, play indigenous games and are told to keep their hair short.

The department's Sicelo Khuzwayo says that investigations into allegations of racism at the school are underway.

"That meeting was very successful. It led to the situation being stabilized... And in the next few days the department will be able to actually publicly outline what has been findings of that investigation," he said.

In Cape Town, the principal of Sans Souci Girls High School is facing calls for her to step down.

Former and current students have been demonstrating at the school today - also against the school's hair and language policies.
