A schoolboy has been killed in a crash involving a taxi near Umzinto on the south coast this morning.
Provincial emergency services say around 24 other people were hurt in the accident.
KZN Emergency Medical Services' Robert Mckenzie says the vehicle overturned into a sugarcane field near Sawoti.
Mckenzie says the boy had already died by the time medics reached the scene.
"Medics worked together to treat 24 other school children injured in the crash. They had sustained serious and minor injuries. The vehicle had been transporting children ranging from junior to high school," he said.
The exact cause of the crash is still being investigated by authorities.
