SASSA KZN moves to explain grant pay delays
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Following some complaints of delayed grant payouts, SASSA in KwaZulu-Natal has moved to explain it could be due to one of two issues they are still working to address.
The South African Social Security Agency has been receiving feedback from beneficiaries who have either been seeing their grants reflect late or not at all.
SASSA KZN's Sandy Godlwana says the first part of the possible cause is that a number of beneficiaries are not heeding the agency's written call to come forward and update their personal, residential, employment and income status in order to ensure that they still fall under the criteria of those who qualify.

Godlwana says the second issue relates to the payment method.
"If they were receiving grants using the post bank SASSA card, when they change the payment method, they are encouraged to come before the 20th of that month so that we are able to at SASSA capture their details and also do verification with the bank to confirm- if indeed this client is the owner of that bank account.
"If they come after 20th, then it means there is a delay in terms of waiting for the bank to come back to us when we do the verification process."
