Sassa, Dlamini summoned to ConCourt
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The Constitutional Court has directed the Minister Bathabile Dlamini and the SA Social Security Agency (Sassa) to answer questions relating to the crisis of payment of grants.

The questions must be answered by Monday - with accompanying affidavits.
Among the questions the Concourt wants Dlamini and Sassa officials to answer are who was responsible for determining on behalf of SASSA whether or not the agency itself would be able to pay the grants on the fist of April.
In 2014, the ConCourt ruled that the five-year contract signed in 2012 with Cash Paymaster Services to facilitate the payment of social grants was invalid.
That contract comes to an end at the end of this month - and with just over three to go before the next payments are due - it's still not clear who will pay the grants to 17 million beneficiaries..

The court also wants to know why it was informed timeously about these developments at SASSA.
