SA’s top cop visits uMkhanyakude following violent protests

The national police commissioner has gone to uMkhanyakude after community protests in the northern KZN district turned violent.
Locals are said to be fed up with cross-border crime.
last week, at least six vehicles, including a truck and a luxury tourist bus from Mozambique, were torched along the busy R22 route linking KZN and the neighbouring country.
SAPS spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says Fanie Masemola is having several meetings today.

"Residents here are complaining about car theft syndicates that are terrorising the community."
General Masemola is here to engage with the community to come up with lasting solutions to address the problems. He is currently meeting with the 11 station commanders and the district commissioner in this area, and he will thereafter meet community leaders."
