SA's COVID-19 related deaths surpass 5,000

Nearly 13 and a half thousand new coronavirus infections have been recorded in South Africa.
It means our country's confirmed over 364 thousand cases, since the outbreak.
National COVID-19 fatalities have surpassed 5 000. According to the latest statistics by the Health Minister last night, another 85 people lost their lives, while the total number of recoveries is over 191 thousand.

Taking a closer look at KwaZulu Natal. The province has recorded more than 43 thousand infections, 416 deaths and over 11 thousand recoveries.
Premier Sihle Zikalala says the provincial surge in coronavirus cases continues with the eThekwini and uMgungundlovu Districts recording more than half the number of daily cases.
"Of the 2 758 new cases that had been recorded by 18 July 2020, eThekwini District has recorded 44%, followed by UMgungundlovu (18%)," said Zikalala.
UMgungundlovu District remains the second-highest with COVID-19 cases provincially and has been receiving an average of 270 cases daily since the beginning of June.
