SA’s Covid-19 active cases exceed 100 000

The number of active Covid-19 cases in the country now exceeds 100 000.
This has been confirmed by the new statistics released by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize on Sunday evening.
His latest report shows South Africa currently has 103 317 active Covid-19 cases.
The Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal have the most number of active infections at 34 979 and 29 527 respectively.
The two provinces are followed by Gauteng with a total of 15 095 active cases.
The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the country since the beginning of the pandemic in March now stands at 921 922 cases.
A further 152 deaths have been recorded in the country with the Eastern Cape accounting for 105 deaths in just one day.
The province is followed by the Western Cape with 30 new deaths, KwaZulu-Natal with 8, the Free State recorded five new deaths, Mpumalanga showing 3 new fatalities and Gauteng recording one new death.
The cumulative number of deaths in the country now stands at 24 691.
