Sars warns of penalties for missed tax returns
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
It's the final day for non-provisional taxpayers to submit their returns.
SARS says taxpayers send them through via eFiling - the deadline's at midnight otherwise you can go to their offices for assistance until 4pm.
SARS's Sandile Memela says late submissions will be processed but those who fail to file their returns - will face strict penalties.
"Penalties including interest kick in immediately and this will be money that you will be owing to SARS and there is a possible infringement which could also result in imprisonment," he says.

Memela explains why it's important to submit your returns.
"Filing your tax returns is your contribution to the national fiscus that provides the much needed resources for the State to implement its programmes," he says.
