Talks collapsed last week, after the taxman's 1.39% wage increase offer was rejected.

Unions are demanding a 12% increase across the board.

The revenue service says it remains open to discussion with Nehawu and the Public Servants Association.

With tax-filing season underway, SARS says there was minimal disruption to services on Tuesday when the strike resumed.

But some branches had to close.

It says it's put business continuity plans in place.

The PSA's Claude Naicker says workers will continue with their action at all major offices and border posts.

"A lot of employees are working remotely where they were offering their services. Their services will now be also stopped. These employers have decided that they will down tools, these employees were working to try and assist the employer that they will improve their salary offer.

"Those that are at the offices in the major centres and those coming for service at SARS I think that will be affected because those employees are also out on the street."
