Sardines still on the South Coast

Durbanites might have to wait a few more days before the sardines make their way to our waters. The KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board's Greg Thompson says currently, the fish are still on the province’s South Coast.

“They’ve been there for the last two or three days,” he says, “And if they continue to stick around there, there is a chance they’ll stay there for the rest of the season. It’s happened before”.
Thompson says most of the activity is being experienced between Pennington and Bazley Beach at the moment.
EThekwini's main beaches are expected to remain closed for now though - in anticipation of the sardine run, shark nets have been removed from Durban all the way to Port Edward on the extreme south coast.
