Netting took place at the Umzumbe and Pumula beaches.

There were plenty of Cape Gannets moving between Ramsgate and Shelly Beach on Sunday afternoon.

The KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board says there were reports of large shoals of sardines off shore north of Port Shepstone this morning.

Pockets could also be seen from Scottburgh to Mtwalume.

There were numerous netting attempts at Bazley and Mtwalume, but only one netter bagged 10 crates. Action reportedly increased at Pennington this afternoon.

All shark safety gear has been removed from the water from Ansteys beach on the Bluff, south of Durban to Port Edward.

"Some [shark nets] have been replaced along the Durban beachfront, as sardine movement seems to be bypassing the area for now," said the sharks board's Greg Thompson.

Bathing has been re-opened at some of the city beaches.

Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution should they enter the water in these areas.
