Santaco warns of taxi fare increase

Taxi commuters are being reminded to budget wisely.
The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) says fares are going to increase soon.
This comes after fuel prices increased consecutively from January.

SANTACO's Sifiso Simelane says, " We took the provision to say at the beginning of June, towards the beginning of July we then increased our fares and the minimum amounts for those increments is read as the minimum amount.
"The process is also a consulting one because it involves within work commuters and where they are coming from, which can be councillors or community leaders."
