Santaco, KZN Transport in talks to resolve PMB taxi violence
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
The South African National Taxi Council has urged calm in Esigodini in Pietermaritzburg where taxi violence has been ongoing.
In the latest attack this past weekend - a taxi was set alight and the driver shot.
It's prompted officials to ask for police visibility to be increased in the area.
Last month, a taxi driver and another person were killed and a number of minibus taxis torched.
The taxi council's Sfiso Ntshangase says the dispute is between legal and illegal taxi operators.

Ntshagase says they are working with government to end the violence.
"As far as Santaco is concerned - with regards to the scourge of violence taking place at Esigodini - we've had meetings with the Department of Transport. Currently we hope that this scourge will soon come to an end by people being brought to book by law enforcement agencies," he says.
