SANParks to host week-long free access
Updated | By Newswatch
Nature lovers will soon be able to visit the South African National Parks free of charge, over the course of a week.

As part of its annual campaign to welcome more visitors to its parks, SANParks will open its doors to the public on a complimentary basis from 16 to 20 November 2020.
However, the zero-rated fee will not cover accommodation and activities.
"SANParks has postponed the free access week which is traditionally held in September, to November due to the COVID-19 alert Level 2 regulations which restrict the number of persons allowed within public spaces," says SANParks Chief Executive Officer, Fundisile Mketeni.

"Additionally, we have implemented extra visitor management procedures in the parks to manage visitor volumes in line with regulations to further mitigate the risk of the spread of coronavirus at this time."
Over 500 000 South Africans have already been allowed free access since the programme began in 2006.
The Namaqua National Park in the Northern Cape and Boulders section at Table Mountain National Park in the Western Cape are the only parks excluded from the campaign.
