Sandra Munsamy has taken the stand in the Durban High Court in the trial of her four alleged abductors.

She was kept chained at a house in eMalahleni in Mpumalanga province for six months before she was rescued.

Appearing via audio-visual link from a separate room on Tuesday, Munsamy told the court she was driving home in the evening when she noticed a car following her.

She says a short while later, the car in front of her reversed. Munsamy says three balaclava-clad gunmen jumped out.

When she tried reversing, the vehicle behind her blocked her in.

Munsamy says she put her hands up and screamed, and a gunshot rang out.

The court heard she was pulled out her car. Her abductors tried bundling her into the boot of one of the cars in front, but she wouldn't fit in.

She says they put her in the back seat instead and the three men sat on her.

At that point Munsamy broke down, telling the court she continuously prayed as they bound her hands with cable ties and drove off.

The court heard the car then stopped and a black cloth was thrown over her head.

Munsamy says she was then shoved into the boot of the car that had blocked her from behind.

She says she woke up hours later when they had stopped driving.
