SANDF deployed to secure N3

Fuel refinery Sapref temporarily halted operations at its plant, in the south of Durban, this week over safety fears and the suspension of deliveries.

Road freight transport is being held up due to the closure of our national route, the N3, after attacks on trucks, looting and arson. 


The N3 Toll Concession's Thania Dhoogra says soldiers will now be keeping watch. 


"The N3 remains closed from Cedara in KZN to Harrismith in the Free State. 


"The SANDF have been mobilised and are being deployed on the route.

"Apart from ensuring safety and security along the N3, urgent maintenance work, including recovery, clean-up and repairs, is required before the road can be safely reopened. 


"N3TC will immediately notify all stakeholders as soon as there is a firm indication as to when the N3 Toll Route from Cedara to Harrismith can be reopened."
