Sanco claims proof conference of KZN structure was illegal

The South African
National Civic Organisation in KZN says it has proof the recent Durban meeting
of a purported provincial structure was illegal and unconstitutional.

The two-day conference elected former president Jacob Zuma as its provincial chairperson.
But Sanco provincial secretary Sizwe Cele says the gathering was not legitimate - as the members who organised it were suspended by the organisation.
Cele says the matter is before the court.
"Part A which was an urgent one to interdict that bogus conference from sitting and part B, which deals with the merit of our case.
"Unfortunately the court felt that there was nothing urgent because we delayed ourselves to approach the court so on those bases they said there was no urgency in our application."

Speaking from Midrand on Monday, Cele said they are looking at ways to try and expedite the court case.
"We submitted and those guys are expected to file their answering affidavits thereafter, but up until today, they didn't do that. Our lawyer submitted an application for a default judgment."
