Samwu confirms death of eThekwini municipal worker

An eThekwini Municipal worker has died in hospital after he was shot last week, during protest action in Durban.
SAMWU's confirmed the news saying he worked for the city's waste management unit.
The union's Jaycee Ncanana says a number of their members were shot during demonstrations which brought the city centre and surrounding routes to a standstill.

"It's only one deceased. We have managed to identify him as a Samwu member. His name is Khumbuzo Cele," he said.
Police have opened an inquest docket into his death.
Ncanana says they'll meet with their members today to decide the way forward. This after talks between lawyers for the union and municipality.

"We are going to report back the results yielded by the engagement. We will have to execute whatever mandate they table."
