SAMWU members as well as those belonging to the Independent Municipal and Allied Trade Union had initially wanted an 11% wage increase as well as better housing and improved medical aid benefits.

IMATU accepted SALGA's offer last week.

SAMWU's Papikie Mohale says although it is not what they wanted it is a compromise deal.

''The majority of our members has accepted offer which means that they are happy with it. We are ready to sign, the facilitators proposal will be signed on the 19th which is this coming Wednesday.

''So as it stands we're going to formally accept the offer on Wednesday,'' he said.
