Salga urges KZN municipalities to set up supply chain recovery plans

The local government association, SALGA, has recommended municipalities establish supply chain recovery plans.
The auditor-general painted a bleak picture of the financial state of some municipalities earlier this year.
Some of the challenges highlighted were ballooning irregular expenditure, poor debt and financial management practices.

SALGA's Thami Ntuli says the onus is on municipal managers and financial officers to make the necessary changes.
"Also, the other committees which are there, such as finance portfolio, the Empac, your Exco and council, also have oversight responsibility in ensuring the adherence to the AGs action plan and recommendations. That's how SALGA we believe we can go forward having mitigated the challenges."
