SALGA calls for 'thorough investigation' into killing of uMngeni chief whip

The South African Local Government Association
has called for a thorough investigation into the killing of the chief whip of
uMngeni Municipality.
Nhlalayenza Ndlovu was gunned down by unknown suspects who opened fire on him at his home in Midmar View on Tuesday.
Police are investigating a case of murder.
A slain councillor has been described as someone who was a dedicated public servant.
SALGA's Thami Ntuli says as the country moves closer to next year's elections, political differences should be resolved peacefully.

He says the rising number of political killings in the province remains a concern, and unity is needed to curb the scourge.
"This is now a societal issue that requires every leader in KZN, including religious and business leaders and every leader in different sectors, to stand together united against this violence."
The DA's KZN leader Francois Rodgers, uMngeni Mayor Chris Pappas and other officials will visit Ndlovu's family on Thursday.
