Hidayatul Islam Primary School governing body member and family spokesperson Dawood Esack says Asghar returned home in good spirits.

"I saw him this morning, I was at the family home earlier this morning, but even last night when he came home, he was in good spirits.

"We must just say that he is fine and unharmed and even this morning, he was in good spirits, calm and collected and I gave him a little hug.

"Last night when he returned home, he said, 'Tell the principal that I am very happy that I do not need to go to school tomorrow', and that was the spirit of this young man."

Esack adds that Asghar will receive counselling.

"The school has been very supportive that he attends counselling in regard to applying to some of the psychologists that do pro-bono work for us, so they will be attending to him to see how he is doing from a mental state.

"According to his parents he was fine, but one doesn't know if there is any sort of things that need to be dealt with."
