Sadtu KZN secretary cleared in qualifications probe
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Sadtu in KwaZulu-Natal has welcomed the outcome of investigations proving its provincial leader is in fact qualified.
The union's Provincial Secretary, Nomarashiya Caluza, recently made headlines following claims by newly formed union SALIPSWU - that she is not qualified nor does she have a matric certificate.
At a media briefing today Caluza revealed that an investigation by both the HAWKS and the South African Council for Educators had set the record straight.
"Both the South African Police Service and the South African Council have after investigation found that the allegations were unfounded. Sadtu has already conducted its own internal investigation and have found that there is no merit in the allegations," Caluza said.
Caluza has hit out at the person who she says is behind the claims.
She says former union member, Mbuyiseni Mathonsi has an agenda - and is threatened by the strength of women.
"It is clear that in Mathonsi women do not have capacity to lead and should not be allowed to lead. We believe that he is at pains to see a united Sadtu in KwaZulu-Natal unlike in his era where Sadtu had become a slaughterhouse where embers were suspended and dismissed left and right as long as they were not in agreement with his views."
