Sadtu concerned with Motshekga's decisions

Teacher's union, South African Democratic Teachers Union says while they are not happy with the work of the Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga, they are not calling for her resignation.
The union's Nomarashiya Caluza says they feel that policies are being implemented without the union being consulted.
"She just rushed to gazette policy matters that needed to be engaged on at the level of the bargaining council. We see that as undermining the unions," she said.
Sadtu's Bheki Shandu says the introduction of Mandarin at South African schools from next year is one of the policies they did not have much of a say in.
"We want to maintain that there shall never be anything that will be implemented in the Department of Education without the involvement of us as unions. We have more than 256 000 members. Anything that is going to affect them at the level of the workplace must be communicated to us," he said.
