The nine-year-old girl was shot dead in a hijacking incident in Shallcross in May.

Sbonelo Mkhize is facing two counts of murder and a charge of robbery with aggravating circumstances.

He told the court today that he would be opting for legal aid. His details were taken down before the matter was adjourned until early next month.

Mkhize and another suspect allegedly stole Sukhraj's vehicle that had been parked outside Sadia's grandparents house. The suspects sped off while the little girl was still inside the vehicle.
