SACP wants state capture commission established in KZN
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The SACP in KwaZulu-Natal is calling on the newly-elected Premier to establish a provincial state capture commission saying KZN - and in particular eThekwini - is captured.

At a press briefing in Durban today, the party's Themba Mthembu claimed influential businesspeople were calling the shots inprovincial government departments and municipalities.
"Because we are ready to demonstrate how structures of government are captured here in KZN - right from the municipality to the provincial government. We can tell you each department is not owned by [an] MEC, it's owned by tenderpreneurs. That's why you see these political killings," Mthembu said.
Mthembu - who served as Agriculture MEC under former premier Willies Mchunu - has also spoken out about the new cabinet appointments.
He says he's confused about why he wasn't re-appointed.
Mthembu says they weren't consulted about the new provincial cabinet.
"We wrote to the ANC that it will be in order as the alliance to sit down and evaluate the performance of the ANC in government in the last five years and those who are deployed. We could not find a response. So, there is no appraisal. Whoever says there will be an appraisal - would be a liar."
