Reacting to death of the man who orchestrated the 1993 murder of former SACP leader Chris Hani, the SACP says the loss of any life is a sad occasion.

Clive Derby-Lewis died yesterday at the age of 80 after a long battle with cancer.
He had been serving a life sentence for his role in Hani's assassination when he was released on medical parole last year after being diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.

The SACP's Alex Mashilo says despite the controversy and pain of the events involving Hani and Derby-Lewis - South Africans should still acknowledge the loss of life.
