SACP on peace-building after Clive Derby-Lewis' death

Reacting to death of the man who orchestrated the 1993 murder of former SACP leader Chris Hani, the SACP says the loss of any life is a sad occasion.
Clive Derby-Lewis died yesterday at the age of 80 after a long battle with cancer.
He had been serving a life sentence for his role in Hani's assassination when he was released on medical parole last year after being diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.

The SACP's Alex Mashilo says despite the controversy and pain of the events involving Hani and Derby-Lewis - South Africans should still acknowledge the loss of life.
"We need to build a society characterised by peace, by the elimination of all forms of prejudice against other human beings," he said.
