SACP congress hits out at corruption, state capture
Delegates at the South African Communist Party's (SACP) National Congress have heard that they are meeting during a very difficult time for the SACP, Cosatu and ANC alliance.
SACP chairperson, Senzeni Zokwana addressed delegates on the first day of the congress, saying the controversial Gupta family must leave the ANC alone.
"Factionalism is not only killing the ANC, but it is rendering its structures unworkable. We can never be dragged into a situation where the ANC loses its standing with the people because of one family," says Zokwana.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura told a cheering crowd they cannot tackle radical economic transformation if the state is captured and corruption is allowed to fester.
"Those who want corruption and state capture to thrive are going to fight back and they will fight back hard. We must be prepared to endure and fight on," says Makhura.
SACP Secretary General Blade Nzimande reiterated that factions within the alliance were tearing them apart.
"There is mutual dependence between these parasites and factions in our movement who want to capture our organisations, deliver them to these parasites so that they accumulate and bring back money to drive factionalism inside our institutions," says Nzimande.
