SACP accused of interfering in ANC matters

The ANC Youth League in KZN has accused some members of the South African Communist Party of using their membership in the party to meddle with the politics of the ANC.

It follows a Sunday Times report of an apparent meeting between the KZN leadership and Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa last week where he was allegedly told he would not be supported if he runs for party president in 2017.
Briefing the media in Durban a little while ago the Youth League said there had been numerous other conspiracy theories about the league by members of the SACP who they claim want to further their own political aspirations in government.
They say there is also a plot to remove Senzo Mchunu as KZN Premier.
The League's Thanduxolo Sabelo says the SACP should stop stirring.
''We call upon the SACP to refrain from discussing issues within the ANC leadership. The SACP must respect itself as an organisation.
As an organisation, they cannot have direct interest in another organisation, in terms of who leads.
"If they want speak about the party's leadership issues of the ANC, they should become members of the party,'' he said.
