SACC gears up for mass protest action over COVID-19 graft

The country's church leaders are planning to roll out mass action against corruption next month to protest the looting of funds meant for the management of the coronavirus crisis.

The South African Council of Churches (SACC) says the graft that's been happening across the country's provinces is shameful.

Church and Community Liaison Director, Mzwandile Molo says church leaders will begin a silent protest on the 16 September calling for accountability.
"It has been proven in the most unhealthy way - the COVID corruption comes up at the time when the nation is most vulnerable.
"Where money meant for the sick, for those who are hungry, unemployed, for those who are dying is taken by those who are politically connected and who are corrupt in business practices.
"We are not a country that will be defined by corruption," says Molo.
