SABC has (another) new acting CEO
Updated | By Suné du Toit
Communications Minister Ayanda Dlodlo has appointed Tsheliso Ralitabo as the SABC's acting CEO.
Ralitabo, who is the public broadcaster's general executive for technology, replaces James Aguma.
Dlodlo told Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) that she will not call for the suspension of any staff member in a public forum.
"What I will do is take to heart what you have said and to take to heart your statement in support for your call for a suspension and the board will act in a correct fashion," says Dlodlo.
The public broadcaster's interim board deputy chairperson Mathata Tsedu says they have placed advertisements to fill the positions of Group CEO, COO, Head of Radio and Chief Audit Executive.
"If an executive is going to be away on sick leave for an extended period, the chairperson of the board is authorised to appoint an acting person in that space for the duration of that absence. In that respect, this is different from appointing an acting person on a kind of permanent basis. This is about the guy not being there for a week, three days...but things need to be signed," says Tsedu.
It is unclear if Aguma will now go back to his old position as Chief Financial Officer.
