SA turns to India in bid to eradicate TB
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Health Minister Joe Phaahla says several measures must be implemented if South Africa wants to eradicate Tuberculosis as a leading health threat by 2030.

He spoke during Friday's 13th BRICS Health Ministers Meeting in Durban.
Delegates have heard public health emergencies such as the Covid pandemic have caused some disruptions to the deadlines of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
Ending the epidemics of AIDS and Tuberculosis is one of South Africa's targets of its 'Good Health and Well-being' goal.
Phaahla says to help reach it, we'll be looking to India, which has similar population dynamics to South Africa.
"It is a challenge in South Africa with many rural areas. It is interesting the Minister of India made the declaration that they are focusing on 2025, we have got different challenges, quite a large population in India and also they do have rural and informal settlements, so I think there is a lot South Africa can be able to learn."
