SA sends condolences to India after horror train crash

President Cyril Ramaphosa has sent a message of condolences to India following a train crash on Friday evening that claimed the lives of at least 288 people.

"The South African government and people stand in solidarity with those affected by this tragedy and laud the emergency rescue and medical personnel for their tireless efforts," said the Presidency's Vincent Magwenya.

"President Ramaphosa says the South African people are with the people of India, particularly the affected families, during this time of mourning."

The horrific collision involving three trains in the state of Odisha has left more than 850 people injured.

It's India's deadliest rail accident in more than 20 years.
