SA sees a drop in new Covid infections

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) says
there has been a drop in the number of new infections recorded across South
Africa in the past 24 hours.
“Today the institute reports 1 366 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa.”
According to the latest statistics published by the NICD on Monday evening, the majority of new cases continue to be reported in the Economic hub of Gauteng.
"Majority of new cases today are from Gauteng (563), followed by Western Cape (189) then Kwa-Zulu Natal accounted for (175).

“Mpumalanga accounted for 10%; Free State, Limpopo & North West each accounted for 6% respectively; Eastern Cape accounted for 3%; and Northern Cape accounted for 2% of today’s new cases.”
The auditing exercise taking place at the National Department of Health (NDoH) continues to show a backlog in reported deaths.
“The NDoH reports 71 deaths and of these, 14 occurred in the past 24 – 48 hours. This brings the total fatalities to 95 093 to date.”
