One of the six lawyers representing the country, Advocate Tembeka Ngcukaitobi, has presented to the International Court of Justice what he said is the genocidal intent and mass destruction in the enclave.

"Mass displacement of the population of Gaza headed to areas where they continue to be killed and the deliberate creation of conditions that quote 'lead to a slow death', unquote."

"There is still a clear pattern of conduct, the targeting of family homes and civilian infrastructure, laying waste to vast areas of Gaza. And the bombing shelling and the sniping of men, woman and children where they stand."

The court has also heard from Advocate Adila Hassim that the suffering of the Palestinian people is undeniable.

"Palestinians in Gaza are subjected to relentless bombing. They are killed in their homes, in places where they seek shelter, in hospitals, in schools, in mosques, and in churches."

"They have been killed, if they failed to evacuate to the places to which they have fled and even while they are tempted to flee Israeli declared 'safe routes'."

South Africa is seeking a ceasefire, and for humanitarian aid to be allowed into the occupied territory, among other orders it’s asking for.
