SA resilient despite changes in global economy: Gordhan
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Despite the tough economic times South Africa and the world faces, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan believes if we pull together we can change the state of our economy for the better.

He was addressing business at a South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry event in Johannesburg today.
Gordhan has stressed that despite some negatives we have a lot going for us.
''Whilst our own situation might sound noisy from time to time, compared to the rest of the world - we are a very reasonably stable environment.
''We are not in the kind of negative territory that some of the developing economies are and we are not having the kind of tumultuous geopolitical developments that other parts of the world are confronted with,'' he said.
Gordhan says the world is a volatile place where things change overnight but that South Africans have always shown resilience.
''Nobody can predict what's going to happen in the next couple of weeks, let alone in the next couple of months. If you look at the British situation, Mr. Cameron - the Prime Minister - said he will be around until October, right? He's going to leave tomorrow.
''That just demonstrates our political environments can change, geopolitical environments can change as well as how each of them could actually contribute to volatility in the financial sector but in the economic sentiments as well,'' he said.
Meanwhile, there's going to be a debate in the British Parliament on whether to hold a second EU referendum.
A petition calling for another vote has now got more than 4 million signatures.
The Petitions committee says it'll be discussed on September 5.
At the end of the debate, a Government Minister will respond to the points raised.
